    Description

You are bidding on a large, very rare original antique engraving from an 1870s French illustrated journal.
It depicts three beautiful dogs -- a Gordon setter, a Sussex Spaniel and an English Springer Spaniel.
The Gordon is described in French as the Grand Setter Noir (Grand Black Setter). The Sussex is Petit Epagneul de Sussex (Little Sussex Spaniel). The Springer is described as the Epagneul du Norfolk (Norfolk Spaniel).
The Norfolk Spaniel or Shropshire Spaniel is an extinct breed of dog since the early 20th century.  The term was used to designate springer type spaniels that were neither Sussex nor Clumber Spaniels, and attempts were made to use it to specify a breed that would later become known as the English Springer Spaniel.
It is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 10.5 x 14.5 inches (26.5 x 36.5 cm). The picture fills most of it, with a French caption below and text surrounding it.
The page is in excellent condition for its age.
There is text/photos on the back of the print.
See scan for an accurate view of the condition.
This is GENUINE antique/vintage item. It is not a modern reproduction.
