Owyhee Spiderweb Jasper Unpolished Slab: Red Netlike Patterns on Green; Oregon

Description

This Owyhee jasper type is actually a rhyolite with a high silica content. It takes a nice polish and with its contrasting patterns in brick red on pistachio green, makes some striking gemstones. This slab has the typical vugs and other formations to work around, sand through, or include in your design, but there is enough material here to yield several beautiful cabochon gems. A very nice example of an old-time and always unusual gemstone for cutting or your collection.
The photo which includes the measure/ruler was taken dry, the material in the other pictures was dampened to better approximate how the colors and patterns may intensify after being polished. I made photos in direct sun.
