Vintage~BOUZOUKI Musical Instrument~8 String~w/Case & Book~Pre-Owned~1970's~It was on a travel to Greece that it was purchased in the 1970's. The instrument is in need of repair, as it was incorrectly stored (by previous owner) in a garage office.  Therefore, the tailpiece contains rust. The reddish brown inlay and started to peel and needs repaired.  The pearl colored inlay is in good condition and beautiful. There are 8 tuners for strings, but at the nut there are 6 notches for strings. The finger board is in good condition, but the wood could use some polishing to bring out it's true luster. The backside is in good condition, some scratches as to be expected as it is pre-owned. The canvas case does need cleaned, as it is soiled. The book is just an extra I am including as it was never used, just stored!  This BOUZOUKI measures 38.5" in length, 11.5" wide at the floating bridge section. It is 7.25" in depth at the base. Unbranded also. I recommend the new owner replace the strings as some strings currently are broken.
Bouzouki is a stringed instrument, which belongs to the family of the long-necked lutes. Instruments of a similar shape can be found in Pre-Hellenic civilizations (Egypt, Assyria, China, India). The
history
of
bouzouki
is actually intertwined with the rebetika songs, which is among the most distinctive Greek music sounds. These rebetika  songs often had lyrics about hookers and pimps, drugs, love, money, death and everything that could be associated with everyday life. The chords of the songs were based on a wide range of rhythms and ancient modes, and stood out due to the improvisation of their introductions known as taxims.
